The Poetry of Autumnal Woods

I haven't posted in a while, what with so many things to do (had a few academic obligations). But finally didGolden
get to work on some images, and to prep for a few posts. Here is a short series of trees and woods that I shot recently around these parts. I wanted to capture soft light falling on the trees, and the enclosure effect, the cocoon-like feeling it evokes when the light hits them just so, the fog settles in, and other intrusions decrease. It is as if you are able to walk into the foyer of the forest.

At least that's how it felt to me while I was taking these shots. The shot I dubbed "meanwhile" was a revelation of sorts just like that. I got out of the car, walked a ways, followed a path, and all of a sudden got the feeling of having stepped into that space.  Of course, my own romantic view of nature colors all my perception, but hey, my aim was to evoke precisely how I felt and experienced the moment. I hope you like them.
